i think it’s because the nile formed a delta where egypt was and fertile soil was left behind because of this. thus egypt was able to prosper as an early civilization with the good soil which allowed them to have more food which gave them food surpluses and that gave them more free time since they didn’t have to worry about starving which allowed them to develop their culture and flourish thus becoming the "jewel"…i took an AP world history class last year and they were big on cause and effect sorry

Think its because most of the area surrounding the Nile is desert and the area around the Nile is a flood plain which makes it the only fertile place in the area. Think its also called that because at one point it was the center of the egyptian empire which was really big and prosperous, and i think the tombs in luxor might be one of those wonders of the old world things !!!
